Community Work

My classmate, You brought me to a community work. He is a very very friendly person I must say, we knew each other for less than weeks and he started bringing me around and even introduced this program to me. This is a program that gives Malay tuition to primary school kids in "Kampung Baru" that is mostly populated by the Malaysian Chinese.

In this program, I was given a Primary One girl. Hence, I have to teach all the basic malay grammar from scratch! I am not a very patient person I must say, imagine me having to explain basic and fundamental things! Oh well, it is really a good way to learn to be more patient, and to communicate with the girl. It is also rewarding when I see her progress, even just a little bit.

Kids are pretty nice to hang out with. They are pure and innocent. They won't fake a smile if they dislike something, they won't say they like it if they don't. They will just tell you what they really feel. Sometimes I feel, we adults (young adults) are worse than them. We fake about things just to fit in the group or the norm because we are afraid to be different. Sad uh..

Oh well, I am thankful that You brought me to this community work so that I can "purify" my soul once every week.

A short update for the week,
Jyi
